Our green habits

Erasmus+

The covid-19 pandemic and the restrictive measures imposed on various countries have had a positive effect on the planet: they have reduced air pollution. But they had a negative consequence for our students, who for the past two years have experienced quarantine and confinement. Having stayed indoors for a long time, they do not pay much attention to the environment. They don’t spend time to observe it, they don’t respect it or even love it.  Even though in some courses of the curriculum students are taught about the dangers that threaten the environment, in their personal lives they do not have its  protection in mind. On the school grounds they often throw their rubbish out of the bins, use a lot of plastic bottles and glasses, arrive at school  by the family's private car, very few use recycled notebooks and generally make reckless use of natural resources in their personal habits. (Waste of water, overconsumption). Stuck most of the time on their cell phone screen even when we go on a field trip, they prefer to play with it instead of enjoying the beauty of nature. In their daily eating habits, many of them consume packaged foods and soft drinks and know little about the value of organic products. Conditions such as climate change, global warming, water scarcity, sustainable development, biodiversity and respect for the environment are either unknown to them or do not touch them. But how do we motivate our students to change their habits? How can we install  in them the love for the environment? We believe that a strong motivation for them would be their active participation in a transnational project, in which they will have the opportunity

  • to observe the environment and be informed about the dangers that threaten it

  •  to decide that the environment needs our love and interest

  • to find out ways to reduce their energy footprint and to watch good environmental practices from other countries of the project.

  •  to adopt green habits in their own life.
